A HEALTHY ORGANISATION
Alive and Well recognises organisations are inherently human. So principles of health that relate to individuals stand true in the world of organisations. A central principle in this understanding are the inner and outer worlds that characterise human experience.
For all of us, our inner world are the things we experience without ‘doing’ – these are our thoughts/ perceptions/ hopes/ dreams/ ideas & ideals/ responses and feelings; while our outer world is all about direct outer experience of the world around us through our interaction with nature, people and the world. It is the continual dynamic between these two worlds that is all about the uniqueness of human experience.
Being healthy is about the rhythm, exchange and flow between these two worlds. So we can translate this inner and outer understanding to the world of organisations. Now the two fields are that of Vision – what guides and inspires people and Action – what they do deliver, enable and achieve. A healthy organisation is when there is a continuous streaming between the two. Vision is translated into Action as everyday customer/ client/ user experience: Action feeds back and confirms the Vision.
